Hello AdSense

As you may know, I think very highly of autoresponders as a tool
for driving traffic to websites over and over again. However, the
best autoresponders are only as good as the emails they send out.

Surprisingly, there aren't many good ebooks available about how
to make your own autoresponder really sing but recently I bought
Autoresponder Magic, a book that contains no less than 500 pages
of actionable content and First Class examples from some of the
best marketers in the business.

It's excellent value and if you are looking to boost the action
level from your own autoresponder or just wondering where to start

Hi AdSense

Following on from my invitation yesterday to join my affiliate
program I forgot to explain a few points that are relevant.

First, I do change my sales page from time to time in order to
keep on working at my conversion rates. So what you may see one
day won't necessarily be what you see the next. However, please
rest assured that I measure what is going on and if I make
changes that improve things I stick with them. If they make
things worse I go back to where I was.

The second point, and this is something that I have had a number
of emails about, is that I don't always direct your
Clickbank affiliate link to my sales page.

There is a good reason for this and it boils down to the best way
to make sales online.

There are a few concepts to explain here.

1.When someone clicks on your sales link, Clickbank set a cookie
on the clicker's browser that identifies you as the affiliate.
This cookie is a few bytes of data that uniquely identifies you
as the referrer and Clickbank looks for it whenever someone makes
a purchase. If they find your cookie you get commission.

2.Key point: this cookie is set whether or not the landing page
is the sales page or any other page on my site.

3.This cookie has a life of 90 days which means that if the clicker
buys my ebook at any stage during the following 90 days, you
still get the commission.

4.The life of this cookie is controlled by Clickbank and I am
unable to extend it. If I had my way I would give it a longer
life but I can't.

What this means is that we have between us 90 days to make the sale.

Now the best way of making sales online is not always just
driving people just to a sales page because people rarely make
a purchasing decision on their first visit to a site. It is
usually better to nurture the sales process along and
repeatedly give a gentle push towards the sale.

This is precisely what I do when I direct people to my sign up
page rather than my sales page but you are still protected. In
fact, you benefit in two ways.

Overall sales conversions should increase which means you end
up making more money. This happens because your potential customer
keeps coming back to my site and keeps getting reminded about
my ebook.

But in a slightly more complex way, you are also less likely to
lose your commission to another affiliate.

You see, Clickbank awards commission to the last referrer. So if
you refer a sales lead to me and then at a later date someone
else does as well, it is this last referrer who will get the commission and not you.

By continually bringing sales prospects back to my site via my
email course, we reduce the likelihood of people going elsewhere
to find out more about my book and this cuts down the number of
times you lose out.

Now as part of my testing processes I made a change to my
sales system in April 2005 that increased my subscription rate
by over 120%.

Yep, the proportion of first time visitors who signed up for
my course more than doubled which means that for every person
you send to my site, more than twice as many will sign up.

I am pretty certain that this will lead to more sales for you in
the future but I can't be absolutely certain yet because it is
too early in the test. However, you will get more than twice as
many people as before into my sales system, all with your
Clickbank cookie in place.

If it works, I'll stick with this new process and you'll make
more money. If it doesn't, I'll go back to the old system.

All this of course raises some questions: why did I invite you
to become an affiliate? Isn't it just going to take away any
potential commissions from any affiliate who referred you to my
site in the first place?

The answer is no.

The reason is due to the timing of my invitation.

You only get invited to join after you've been on my subscriber
list for 90 days. In fact the invite comes out on day 91 and by
then any clickbank cookie set by an affiliate who may have
referred you to www.FactsAboutAdSense.com will have expired so
they wouldn't have got commission anyway.
